That's awesome, thanks so much for making and sharing this video of my game! Definitely the current version (0.2.2) contains more varied gameplay, with different room designs and the fire demon to contend with. But it's still an endless game that's all about clearing out floor after floor.
When making games I tend to focus on the gameplay mechanics more than anything else.
Your video has inspired me though; I think I'll try to give it a bit of a restructure so that there's an endless option but also something that you can win and put down again.
Still it's great to hear that you found elements of it satisfying. I hope you are able to get around to giving it another try sometime, with the current or future version.
As of version 1.0.0 now there actually is an ending! And the game should make it clear how many levels you need to complete, so you're not just grinding and wondering.
Your video made it clear that Fire Hose sorely needed something like that, so thanks for the inspiration!
On version 0.2.2, I got softlocked on floor 17 by clearing all of the fire before the fire demon showed up. The floor finished but the ending door didn't open. Great work so far, and cool use of the crank!
Sorry to hear that, but thanks for letting me know. I will take a look to see if I can figure out what may have caused that. And thanks for the support!
This is a really interesting concept. I am assuming the levels are random? I would prefer it if there was some puzzle aspect to levels. Figuring out the best path, how to make use of your hose length. This would be tough to plan, but well worth it! I’d be happy if the game contained, say, 20 puzzles of increasing difficulty.
Thanks for the feedback! I am planning to add more variation to the levels but I was still thinking along the lines of randomization. But some bespoke puzzles are a good idea, I'll see if I can work that in.
Great! Keep up the good work!
Thanks! There's definitely an update in the oven. The Playdate is fun to develop for.
